Background: Following a thorough safety review, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced the use of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S. could resume.
The FDA and CDC pause has been lifted and the J&J COVID-19 vaccine is available again in the U.S.
The FDA and CDC have determined the following:
Molina currently covers Covid-19 testing without being charged a co-pay or cost share for this test. As long as you meet the guidelines for testing and have a doctor’s order, this testing can be done in any approved laboratory location. For members who receive a Covid-19 vaccination, Molina currently covers this vaccination without members being charged a co-pay or cost share.
When the vaccine becomes available for your population group, you can get a COVID-19 vaccine at a convenient location in your area. For more information from Health and Human Services (HHS) on vaccine availability and locations please visit:

Our corporate chief medical officer (CMO) is working closely with our health plan CMOs across the country to ensure that we are prepared to assist our members.
There are no changes to our prior authorization process at this time. Specific outpatient visits for ER or office care do not require prior authorization within our network. Our inpatient prior authorization process remains the same. We will update you of any changes as things change with this rapidly developing public health matter.
