Preparing for a storm or natural disaster


Have a “Go Bag” ready.

  • Water – at least a three-day supply (one gallon per person, per day, in break-proof containers)
  • Food – at least a three-day supply of non-perishables per person
  • Portable radio
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Cell phone and charger
  • Change of clothes
  • First aid kit
  • Mask, gloves, hand sanitizer
  • Credit card and cash (if the power is out, some places may only accept cash as payment)
  • Personal care items
  • Medicine, glasses


Other things to consider:

  • Fill your car’s gas tank ahead of time
  • Pet care items (food and water, carrier, leash, meds, shot records, ID)
  • Waterproof container with important documents (insurance, medical records, bank account numbers, Social Security card, passport or government issued ID)
